The Dubai international Airport is a major airline hub in the Middle East, situated in the Al Garhoud district. The airport is operated by the Department of Civil Aviation. Part of the new $4.5 billion Terminal 3 opened on 14 October 2008 are the Battery Charger Systems built by Schäfer for the installation within the electrical rooms of the terminal which was built exclusively for the use of Emirates Airline. Terminal 3 is the largest building in the world by floor space and the largest airport terminal in the world, increasing the total capacity of the airport to over 75 million passengers.
